WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MEDICARE SUPPLEMENT PLANS AND MEDICARE ADVANTAGE PLANS

Medicare Supplements (AKA Medigap) policies pay as a secondary insurance to Medicare itself. This means it pays after Medicare first pays its portion of the bill. Most plans offer little out of pocket costs after your monthly premium payment.
When looking at Medicare Supplements, you will want to consider Part D drug coverage as well.

Medicare Advantage Plans are entirely separate from Medicare. When you enroll into a Medicare Advantage plan, you get your benefits from the plan, not Medicare. You agree to use the plan's network of providers except in emergencies. This plan often has copays for your health care treatment as you go along. Most plans include Part D drug coverage.
