Working on Vacation... and what we did!!

Just to be crystal clear, I love working on vacation!! It is an absolute pleasure to know I can be away from home and still be helpful and provide a valuable service to my clients.

At my previous employment, I would receive 2 weeks paid vacation each year. If my boss called or text me on vacation, I would be annoyed. My mindset was set that my vacation was to escape the grind of work, house chores, etc. I wanted to run away from my daily life.

NOW - My mindset is completely different. Again, let me be clear, owning and operating your own small business is HARD but the freedoms that come along with this process are worth all the work, all the growth, all the time!! Now when I plan a vacation, I know I have to bring my laptop and some client files, and each day will have time that I need to check work emails and voicemail messages. I GET to do this while enjoying a beautiful view and making memories with my family! So, while I may be on vacation and not as quick to respond as usual, I will still respond timely and will assist my clients just like I would when I'm home in Indiana!

Do you want to know what I've been doing on vacation when I haven't been working?

I flew down to Florida with my youngest son (age 10). We met my mom down here in Orlando. We spent the first two days at a wonderful hotel resort and went to SeaWorld! We had many animal encounters such as dolphins, penguins, sharks, and stingrays. The best was the up-close dolphin experience - see the picture below with Aurora the dolphin. SeaWorld also has many rollercoasters... I haven't ridden a roller coaster in probably 20 years!! I can type today that I have now rode 5 rollercoasters from SeaWorld!! (I wasn't going to let my 10-year-old ride a rollercoaster and show me up - NO WAY!)

Anyways, we decided to come to Florida because my son had never seen the ocean! We traveled more South to Cocoa Beach, FL and have been staying in a cute little condo oceanfront!! Our patio view is breath taking. While here we have been swimming in the pool, jumping waves and boogie boarding in the ocean, and eating some wonderfully delicious food from some local restaurants.

We will be staying here a few more days and then traveling back to Orlando for our flight home. Our last adventure before departing Florida will be swimming with dolphins at Discovery Cove!! I'M SO EXCITED!! The up-close encounter with the dolphin was awesome... I just cannot fathom swimming with these majestic creatures!! It will be a lifelong memory made for both of us!!

Thank you for taking time to read my short story! If you know me, and even if you don't, I'll be sharing my oldest son's adventure next. He is off on his own (kind of) making his own lifelong memories!! Until then...

Peace, Karinsa
